Breakfast
Breakfasts can be small and quick, for example some bread with cheese or dulce (jam) and coffee. We have an amazing variety of fresh fruit and its very common to have fresh juices or fruit salads, and other times are simply served on the side.
Parrilladas
Ecuadorians are well-known for taking lesser cuts of meat and making them delicious which is a great score for budget travelers, especially when served with the chimichurri sauce and Ecuadorian aji.
Original Fast Food
Bolon de verde is one of the dishes we featured in La Casa de Pia, there it is usually eating late afternoon with a cup of coffee. You can choose the cheese only version, or our favorite – a bolon de verde with cheese AND pork.
Espresso drinks
Even if you’re not staying at La Casa de Pia you may want to pop by for an afternoon coffee, or as we like to call it, “cafecito” usually falls between 5 to 6 p.m. During “cafecito” time we serve coffee with our typical “bolon de verde”.
Wood Fired Pizza
is faithfully crafted the way authentic pizza was originally made; in a blisteringly hot wood fired oven for about 90 seconds, natural leavened dough, with a long room temperature fermentation to bring out the full flavor and aroma of the crust.
Beer & Spirits
The usual suspects of brown colored liquor, whiskey, bourbon and scotch, can generally be found. Nothing exotic required or available. Simple drinks…for simple folks. The local Ecuadorian beer, Pilsener, everyone drinks it. It’s just what you do!

Piedad Diaz held a variety of careers as an entrepreneur, restaurant owner, and a teacher while raising her children in Riobamba, the place she calls home. She retired in 2013 from the Colegio Tecnico Superior Puruha in Quimiac after 28 years of teaching English. With extra time and energy, Piedad could begin the journey of realizing her lifelong dream of owning a bed and breakfast. A year after moving to Baños and starting construction, that dream became a reality. La Casa de Pia, named for its hostess, is just that – a house to call home, a place to enjoy the comforts of home while on the road exploring the beauty that Ecuador has to offer.
